  1. Using 150 to 200 words, please state your reasons for running for office. What compels you to take on this responsibility?

The reason I am running for Congress is for the future of my children. They are not going to have the same economic opportunities that I have had because of the budget deficit and the huge federal debt.
I want to make a difference in Washington. We need to put our financial house in order.

  2. What do you consider to be the top three issues currently facing Utah? Please list them in order of priority to you (with #1 the most important) and explain why they are important to you and to Utah.

    1. The economy. Economic prosperity is needed for the well being of Utah’s families.

    2. Energy. Energy is the engine that drives our economy. We must have clean affordable energy.

    3. Illegal immigration. Our state deals with this challenge in many ways.

  3. What do you plan to do to address your top three issues?

Economy: Presidents Kennedy, Reagan and Bush cut taxes which brought economic prosperity and actually increased federal revenues.  We need to do the same now.

Energy: We must become energy self sufficient. The U.S. has been blessed with an enormous energy tool box.  We must open that tool box and use every tool available. I am in favor of using solar, wind, nuclear, coal and any other energy resource that is available as long as it is clean and economically feasible. We cannot subsidize energy production.

We need to pass laws that lets us drill for oil in ANWR, off the coast of California, the East Coasts and other areas.   When these laws are passed we must  also make it so law suits cannot stop or delay our quest for energy independence.

Illegal Immigration: We need to secure our borders, make a verifiable guest worker program.

  4. What are your most important accomplishments that would make you the most qualified candidate for office?

I was a successful  home builder in Salt Lake Valley for over 30 years. As a small businessman I know how important it is for government to let the free market system operate for the benefit of all Americans.

  5. What skills, talents, and strengths do you have that enhance your ability to be an effective office holder?

As a small business man I know how to manage money and put together a team to be successful. The best thing I ever did in my business was bring my staff together once a week and ask questions and listen. I don’t know all the answers but I have learned to listen so that I can understand.

  6. Why do you belong to your political party?

I consider myself one of the “Old Guard Republicans”. The Republican party stands for lower taxes, lower government spending and less government regulation. The party also stands for a strong national defense. I stand for all of these. I am proud to be a Republican.
