- Using 150 to 200 words, please state your reasons for running for office. What compels you to take on this responsibility?
I believe the best hope for the United States of America, our families and our future, is to return to the core conservative principles of fiscal discipline, limited government, accountability, and strong national security. I believe Utah’s voice needs to be heard and we can do better than our current representative.
- What do you consider to be the top three issues currently facing Utah?
Please list them in order of priority to you (with #1 the most important) and explain why they are important to you and to Utah. As a potential office holder, I believe the federal government must: 1) Become fiscally responsible. Congressional spending is out of control and the $9.3 trillion debt is harming all of us. 2) Fix illegal immigration. It may be the largest unfunded mandate upon the states. 3) Energy independence is critical.
- What do you plan to do to address your top three issues?
1) Enact real fiscal reform, vote for reform, and vote against measures that will continue to harm the financial future of our country. 2) We need to fix legal immigration, reject amnesty, lock down the border and enforce visas, have the political will to enforce the current law, get rid of the rewards and incentives to be here illegally, give businesses the tools they need to hire legally, and insist on assimilation. 3) We must be able to extract the resources found in the United States, including Utah, revamp the cumbersome laws and appeals prohibiting the exploration and extraction of our resources, and encourage other forms of energy including nuclear.
- What are your most important accomplishments that would make you the most qualified candidate for office?
Husband, father of three, 16 years in the local business community, and former Chief of Staff for Governor Jon Huntsman.
- What skills, talents, and strengths do you have that enhance your ability to be an effective office holder?
I will do what I say I will do and represent Utah to Washington D.C. rather than having Washington D.C. being represented to Utah.
- Why do you belong to your political party?
As Republicans we believe in self-reliance, freedom, and the opportunity to succeed. We are supposed to be the party of fiscal discipline, limited government, accountability, and a strong national defense. I am running to help return the Republican Party to these roots.
