- Using 150 to 200 words, please state your reasons for running for office. What compels you to take on this responsibility?
Basically I am a citizen that is getting tired of seeing my freedoms being taken away one by one. It seems like everyday there is something new and I’m tired of it. I am a disgruntled Republican because of our current state legislature. They are out of touch with what Utah really wants, and that is free agency. The vast majority of current Republicans in leadership positions are just as bad as Democrats. I want to see them all tossed out of office and see the Constitution reinstated.
- What do you consider to be the top three issues currently facing Utah? Please list them in order of priority to you (with #1 the most important) and explain why they are important to you and to Utah.
1. Energy Prices Gas prices affect everything that is important to us. Food, education, children, healthcare…everything is directly or indirectly tied to energy prices. 2. The Economy We can’t take care of ourselves or anyone else if there isn’t a stable economy behind us. 3. Corruption There is corruption in the way the state runs its affairs and I want the state to be honest with the citizens. Also, the state legislature, governor, and other leadership are forgetting the Constitution when decisions are made. There are too many special interests that are interfering with lawmaking. This is quickly infringing on our rights as citizens. At this pace we will be living in a Totalitarian form of government in the next few years.
- What do you plan to do to address your top three issues?
I am going to consult the Constitution of the United States before I make any decision. I will ask: “Will voting for this bill contradict the words of James Madison?” I want to see the government smaller and held accountable. I will say “NO” to any increase that state takes from our paychecks. Ben Franklin once said; ”Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.” The government was meant to be small, we were meant to have more freedoms, and if we don’t have these things we will see our nation dwindle and none of us will have “transportation projects” or “school vouchers” to worry about.
- What are your most important accomplishments that would make you the most qualified candidate for office?
I don’t have ties to people in politics. Both of my opponents have extensive ties in various committees and special interests. I’m a regular ticked off Utah citizen that thinks our government is too big and I will do whatever I can to bring it back to the way it is supposed to be.
- What skills, talents, and strengths do you have that enhance your ability to be an effective office holder?
I don’t care what anyone thinks of me personally. I am only concerned with making Utah a better place to live by reinstating freedom and lowering taxes.
- Why do you belong to your political party?
The Libertarian Party is the only political party that believes that the government should be smaller and stay out of the citizen’s business. It’s actually the same way the Republicans use to think a few decades ago. These days, the Republican Party is no different than the Democrats.
