- Using 150 to 200 words, please state your reasons for running for office. What compels you to take on this responsibility?
My father was an elected official and I learned that one person can make a difference in the community and I have chosen to follow in his example and to serve the people in this position.
- What do you consider to be the top three issues currently facing Utah? Please list them in order of priority to you (with #1 the most important) and explain why they are important to you and to Utah.
#1 Would be to make sure that the state budget is prioritized in the way the public would want. That we should spend the public’s money in the best way to serve their needs. #2 Take care of the Education needs of the state and should not be trying to create a new education system though the voucher system. #3 See that our election laws are not pushed to the limits and tighten up the areas that need to be corrected. To see that we have election day voter registration.
- What do you plan to do to address your top three issues?
I have and will continue to file bills that will solve the problems that we may face.
- What are your most important accomplishments that would make you the most qualified candidate for office?
Having served in the legislature for the past 10 years makes me the most qualified. I have lived in my district all my life and know the area and the people that I represent. I don’t have any outside interest that would stand as a conflict of interest in my duties.
- What skills, talents, and strengths do you have that enhance your ability to be an effective office holder?
Knowing the rules of the legislature gives me a hugh advantage of getting things done for the people of my district.
- Why do you belong to your political party?
Democratic party. When I read the party platform, I found that my life and values were in line with how I feel.
