- Using 150 to 200 words, please state your reasons for running for office. What compels you to take on this responsibility?
There are decisions to be made regarding the future of my state and I want to be a part of making those decisions. This state has been very good to me and I want to give back to it.
- What do you consider to be the top three issues currently facing Utah?
Please list them in order of priority to you (with #1 the most important) and explain why they are important to you and to Utah. Economy - without a good economy everything else suffers. Health care reform - without reform we will all soon be priced out of the market. Keeping or putting Government in its proper place - the constant demand of citizens for government to provide more and more must be controlled.
- What do you plan to do to address your top three issues?
Keep lowering taxes so we are attractive to businesses, keep funding education and transportation. Use my health background to help direct health care reform and keep it in private hands. Watch each proposed bill to make sure we aren't expanding govt.
- What are your most important accomplishments that would make you the most qualified candidate for office?
My thirty years as a health professional, twice elected as a city councilman, father and grandfather of a wonderful family.
- What skills, talents, and strengths do you have that enhance your ability to be an effective office holder?
I have the available time, I have an independent spirit that lets me vote my conscience, I have a determination to do what is best for the state and its citizens, I have a sense of community that helps guide my decisions, I have no trouble making decisions.
- Why do you belong to your political party?
Because I believe in principles espoused by the party and am at such odds with the principles offered by other parties.
