- Using 150 to 200 words, please state your reasons for running for office. What compels you to take on this responsibility?
I’m concerned about the uncontrolled growth in Washington County and the deterioration in the quality of life to which it is leading. I will run on a platform of sustainable growth in my County and State and fight for education issues, crime prevention issues, advanced planning concepts and retaining our agricultural heritage.
- What do you consider to be the top three issues currently facing Utah? Please list them in order of priority to you (with #1 the most important) and explain why they are important to you and to Utah.
1. Growth and living within our natural limitations. 2. Education and family values. 3. Economic sustainability.
- What do you plan to do to address your top three issues?
Speak out for referendums so the people can be involved in finding solutions to the issues. Find ways to increase school funding. Encourage advance planning so we can build our utilities, schools and transportation systems ahead of the curve.
- What are your most important accomplishments that would make you the most qualified candidate for office?
I have developed three environmentally friendly projects in Washington County over the last thirty five years and operated various businesses--from art galleries, restaurants, construction companies to real estate operations. I know land and water issues and am always sympathetic to the small business man. I have served on various committees regarding historic preservation and downtown redevelopment. I have a passion to see this County and State as wonderful for my grandchildren as it has been for me.
- What skills, talents, and strengths do you have that enhance your ability to be an effective office holder?
I’m a problem solver, persuasive speaker and compromiser when necessary to get the job done.
- Why do you belong to your political party?
I’m a strong believer in a strong middle class and feel it is all our responsibility to aid the disenfranchised. I believe the Democratic party better represents these values.
