- Using 150 to 200 words, please state your reasons for running for office. What compels you to take on this responsibility?
I just retired after 38 years as an educator/administrator/principal. I have seen first-hand the changes in our society from the microcosm of the classroom and the school. Our Legislature has slowly responded to the needs of our educational system and has not grasped its’ importance to all Utah citizens. I believe my experience offers an enormous benefit to address these problems.
- What do you consider to be the top three issues currently facing Utah? Please list them in order of priority to you (with #1 the most important) and explain why they are important to you and to Utah.
First, education, second, our struggling financial problems that effect housing, gas prices, etc., and third smart growth for Senate District 6 that will preserve open spaces and clean air for our children and grandchildren.
- What do you plan to do to address your top three issues?
I will educate myself on all possible paths to solutions, participate in committee hearings, and vote in favor of all positive bills that help solve the problems concerning these issues.
- What are your most important accomplishments that would make you the most qualified candidate for office?
I have a broad educational background and life-long service to my community. I am committed to working hard, seeking all pertinent information from all viable sources and making decisions based on that information.
- What skills, talents, and strengths do you have that enhance your ability to be an effective office holder?
I am an excellent communicator and work well with diverse groups of people. I work hard and learn quickly. I commit myself to excellence and surround myself with quality people of integrity and honesty.
- Why do you belong to your political party?
In the current political climate we have in Utah and the United States, it is next to impossible to generate sufficient funds to run a viable political campaign without the support of a political party. I belong to the Democratic Party because I agree with the vast majority of their platform and have found them bright, democratic people that hope for a bright future for all citizens.
